Activity Recaps

MMI - Motorcycle Mechanics Institute
Deer Valley, Arizona

Stopped by the BMW bay of MMI's Deer Valley, Arizona facility for some diagnostics and mingle with students and instructors.

Ft. Gillem Motorcycle Safety Rally

Forest Park, Georgia

Set up display and brought examples from recent Road Atlanta weekend as visual reminders of the importance of being properly equipped for motorcycling.  Show and tell items included sets of gloves and leathers that served their purpose in high speed crashes.  In chats with rally participants, Pinson acknowledged the hefty price tag some of this equipment carries but pointed out the big advantage of medical bill savings from riding smart.

Road Atlanta

Being a home race for us and our sponsors, focus went to making sure our sponsors got the most of the Road Atlanta event that they could.  This meant mixing business with pleasure to celebrate the end of tax season.  Race promoters invited Blue Moon to display vintage vehicles to enhance the allure of the race paddock.  Blue Moon brought out their side cars and took a few spins around the track.  Blue Moon Cycle received considerable attention among track announcers.  Pinson's Saturday crash in race 1 made the highlights of SPEED TV coverage.

Pre-Race Promo With Blue Moon Crew

The LWR crew joined the staff of Blue Moon Cycle to do Atlanta Thursday bike nights to promote the Friday pre-race party at the Blue Moon dealership in Norcross.  Group hit The Vortex in Little 5 Points and European bike night at the 57th Fighters Group by PDK airport.  The Friday kick-off party drew 150 people that enjoyed live music, free beer and fresh grilled burgers.  Highlights included grand prize give-away of a VIP trip toVegas to Harrah's Hotel and Resorts.

Race 1:  4th; Race 2:  4th

A track day for testing got us hooked into a CCS race weekend experience.  We met other BMWS1000 RR riders.  We gave Miami BMW novice rider contact info for HMF, GPR, RaceTech, Royal Purple, Vortex and Woodcraft.  We met a few CCS state and regional stars who picture the S1000 RR in their future.  Also, started taking note of BMWs that catch the eye.  Met a lot of folks, got to relax, won our entry fee back and had a great time.

Auto Club Speedway

Issued pre-event release for Cell Phones For Soldiers Program exposure.  Garage location positioned LWR display as the first visible at gate entry. Awning displayed banners inside garage to mimic one of competitor's $40K display. Worked quite well when Santa Ana winds kicked up 60mph winds. Display remained in tact and effective throughout the day.

Pinson, Haas and a team advisor participated in the Auto Club Speedway Public 5K fun run Saturday at 7am. The race course ran along hot pit lane as race bikes were being prepared for morning warm up. Runners showed their race bids as admission to see Saturday's races.  We witnessed how people can get turned-on to racing by the simple act of exposing them to an intimate aspect of the sport.

Fan greeting station staffed 80% of non-racing time which was considerable due to wind delays.  Distributed entire box of Liberty Tax Service promotional items and 200+ Dairyland Cycle Insurance kick stand pucks.

LWR received a lot of love from tower announcers.  Fans heard Pinson thank team partners, Blue Moon Cycle, Dairyland, Liberty Tax and mention the Cell Phones For Soldiers Program 4-5 times over the PA system. Distributed more than 200 pre-paid mailer Cell Phones For Soldier envelopes to fans who had phones at home to donate. Gathered and organized imagery from more than 6 sources to incorporate into race recap reports, team website and marketing materials.

Daytona Season Opener

Displayed signage in garage space and fan greeting station promoting participation in the Cell Phones for Soldiers Program.  Staged three formal photo sessions; on the track with Blue Moon John Landstrom after Race 1 debut; on the grid of  Race 2 with Liberty Tax Service Deb McDaniel in costume; and team photo in the team garage.  Watched Daytona 200 with sponsors and educated them on AMA Pro Racing basics.  Gathered and organized imagery from several sources to incorporate into race recap reports and team website.

       Pre-Daytona Buzz

Issued pre-season announcements of Dairyland continuing sponsorship and press releases partnerships with Blue Moon Cycle and Liberty Tax Service (for team's opening races).  Releases hit PR wire.  Launched new and improved team website.  Accessible through:  www.pinsonracing.com; www.libertywaves.com; and www.kowgo.com.  The 2009 dairy-cow paint scheme has been discarded (along with associated cow puns) in favor of a cleaner look and feel; with updated photography, schedule, and just about anything someone would want to know about the LWR 2010 Program racing its BMW S1000RR.
